Chevrolet abandoned the original FNR concept shortly after the 2015 Shanghai Auto Show, but it wasn’t gone for long. The American brand brought the new and improved FNR-X concept to the 2017 Shanghai Auto Show not long ago. Featuring a hybrid powertrain, the sport-inspired crossover truly is the vehicle of the future.

The “all-purpose sports concept” offers an adjustable ride height and wheel blades designed to automatically adjust to reduce drag at high speeds. Not all of the technologies are futuristic though; active grille shutters are available on numerous vehicles, just like the Chevrolet Colorado mid-size pickup.
The Chevrolet FNR-X concept features two driving modes, Versatility and Sport, which are capable of adjusting the ride height and performance of the hybrid powertrain. Optical and acoustic recognition sensors are littered around the vehicle to optimize the autonomous driver suite’s performance.
Inside, the FNR-X concept features plenty of advanced technologies, like an augmented reality heads-up display. Ambient lighting changes according to which driving mode is selected and a graphene-inspired trim sets the tone for the future of the industry as a whole.
While there’s no official word on a production schedule or release date, the updated FNR-X concept seems ready to roll. We here at DeLillo Chevrolet are looking forward to see what the future has in store for the FNR-X concept!
