Tires

Having tires that are in good shape is an important step towards getting the best gas mileage and ensuring the safest driving. Hot temperatures can wear on your tires more quickly than usual, so you should keep an eye on your truck’s tires to make sure they’re at the correct PSI and have plenty of tread, so that you can get good fuel economy on your summer road trips.

Battery

Your truck’s battery is also more susceptible to corrosion in excessive heat. Check your battery and clean off any visible, built up corrosion. You can also clean the battery cables, checking for cracks or damage along the way.

Coolant System

Your coolant system will be working hard this season, so make sure it has what it needs to perform well. Check your coolant fluid levels and look over the radiator and its surrounding parts for any damage. Use a pressure washer to clean debris and dirt from your radiator while your truck is turned off. Keeping your radiator clean will help ensure that your coolant system works at maximum efficiency this summer.

Tips for the Perfect Beach Day

With Huntington Beach just 10 minutes away from DeLillo Chevrolet, we love stopping off for a lunch break or an afternoon in the sun. When you’re planning your family’s days at the beach this summer, use these simple tips to have the perfect beach day every time.

Protect your gear

Even if your phone is in a waterproof case, store it in a ziplock back when you’re at the beach. This ensures that it’s protected from both water and sand, and the touch screen is still accessible through the baggie.

Meanwhile, it’s easier to protect all of your belongings from the sand when you use an upside down fitted sheet as your beach towel. Just put one item, such as a cooler, at each corner and pull up the edges of the sheet around the items to build a little sheet wall around the perimeter.

Hide your valuables

Hide your money, jewelry, and keys out of plain sight by cleaning out an old sunscreen bottle. This makeshift, low-budget safe will blend in with its surroundings, keeping your valuables out of the limelight.

Clean up

Some people like having sand in their vehicle as a happy reminder of fun in the sun. If you’re not one of these people, keep a soft bristled brush in your vehicle to help clean sand off of passengers before entering. Baby powder is also a handy tool in cleaning wet sand off of sun-kissed feet.
