Tips for the DMV: Avoiding Lines, Boredom, and Unpreparedness

Few things are more dreaded in American society than a trip to the DMV. Nevertheless, you can’t always avoid going, especially if you move to a new state or purchase a new vehicle. That’s why the team here at DeLillo Chevrolet has written a post on tips for the DMV. On your next trip, you’ll hopefully be a little more prepared for the long lines and boredom.

LifeHacker suggests doing as much as possible online. Though that might sound obvious, few people realize just how much you can do using the online DMV website. For instance, you can renew your ID and license plates, request driving records, change your address, and more. Just make sure to use the DMV website for California.

If you can’t avoid heading to the DMV, make sure you have all the necessary paperwork. Most of the information about paperwork is listed online. For instance, getting a used car requires a title, bill of sale, odometer reading, emission-test certification, and the VIN number. If you’re getting an ID, you usually need multiple forms of ID (SS card, passport, etc.), proof of your current address, and payment.

Research the best times to go. Here’s when NOT to go (typically):

  • Before or after a holiday
  • Beginning or end of a month
  • Mondays, Tuesdays, and Fridays (beginning and end of week)
  • During lunch or after 5pm

Many DMVs list the optimum hours for a short wait. Even if you think you can avoid the long wait, bring something to do like a book, game, or newspaper. Those are just some of the things to keep in mind the next time you’re thinking about going to the DMV.

New 2018 Camaro ZL1 1LE is an Engineering Marvel

The 2018 Camaro ZL1 1LE is one of the fastest production Camaros ever made. The newest Camaro comes with a tuned powertrain and suspension, aerodynamic contours, a lightweight build, and more. The ZL1 even completed the famous Nürburgring track with a lap time of just 7:16.04. At DeLillo Chevrolet, we couldn’t be more excited about the new 2018 Camaro.

CNET notes that the 2018 ZL1 1LE beat the previous Camaro’s lap time by a whopping 13.56 seconds—a considerable gap for any race car. New features include a carbon fiber wing that provides 80 percent more downforce. The front end has dive planes and a splitter to optimize airflow, while the 6.2-liter supercharged V8 produces 650 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque. Plus, the Multimatic DSSV® dampers keep the car stiff at high speeds.

“‘X’ decals are affixed to the sides of the mammoth rear wing of the 2018 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 1LE,” said Jon Wong of Roadshow. “Chevrolet engineers say it’s to signify the model as the most extreme interpretation of the sixth-generation pony car. If you’re an enthusiast who measures a car by how well it romps around a racetrack, you may agree that those ‘X’ stickers are warranted with a Nürburgring lap time of 7:16.04.”

In addition to the many engineering marvels under the hood, it would be remiss of us not to mention the stunning exterior. The smooth black hood accentuates the front end, the headlights are bold and aggressive, and the fat tires imply raw power. It’s impossible not to fall in love with the 2018 Camaro ZL1 1LE at first sight.
