When you think of Orange County, perhaps you picture surfers riding the waves at sunrise. That’s a fair expectation, given that Huntington Beach has well-earned its nickname of “Surf City.” With that in mind, where else would the best location be for the International Surfing Museum than here in Huntington Beach?
Orange County natives, visitors, and surfers will all be stoked to check out Surf City’s contribution to California’s generous list of surfing museums. You’ll be greeted with remarkable enthusiasm for the sport, even by those who don’t partake themselves—like the museum’s founder, Natalie Kotsch. Kotsch came to California from Canada, where there was no surfing, but was entranced with the sport after her move. Thanks to her, much of the area’s recent surf history has been preserved.
During your visit, exhibitions featuring surf boards, posters, and memorabilia will demonstrate the progression of area surfers throughout the years. Rotating exhibits allow new details of the sport a chance in the spotlight and encourage return visitors. If surfing is one of your passions, a second visit further down the road is definitely worth another $2, the price of the museum’s admission. From special events to “Surfin’ Sundays” featuring live surf music, the International Surfing Museum is constantly finding a new way to celebrate the sport.
The 2017 Colorado Z71 Which Is The Model The Concept Was Based On
There aren’t many jobs that a Chevy can’t handle. That’s especially true when you allow an expert to design a concept vehicle that caters to their niche’s specific needs. That’s how Hurley and Chevy’s surfer-friendly truck was born.
Hurley, an innovative surfing brand, partnered with Chevy in 2016 to release the Colorado Z71 Hurley concept truck. Like all Chevy pickups, this truck is capable and innovative, but in all of the right ways for surfers specifically. The Colorado Z71 concept was designed to meet a surfer’s every need when out catching waves. Features like a custom surfboard roof rack and water-resistant seat covers alone make the day’s surfing session even simpler.
In addition to these highly functional features, there are other conveniences too, like a Bimini-style bed cover that provides a shady break on a sunny beach. There’s a bed-mounted rack that functions as a place to dry your wetsuit plus plenty of handy storage as well.
Performance-wise, the Colorado Z71 concept was designed with lifted suspension, 17-inch wheels and Goodyear DuraTrac all-terrain tires. With this setup, surfers will have no problem exploring hard-to-reach beaches when hunting for the perfect wave. As a finishing touch, the Colorado Z71 concept includes built-in Wi-Fi to help with weather updates and staying connected with friends. Based on this impressive description, Hurley’s concept pickup seems to have everything a surfer could ever dream of in a vehicle.
The North American International Auto Show is held every year in Detroit and could easily be classified as the largest auto show in the United States. Each year, automakers all over the world flock to Detroit to show off their new wares in January, and NAIAS recognizes individual nameplates with awards like Car and Truck of the Year. This year, the Chevrolet Bolt EV took home the award for Detroit’s Car of the Year.
The Chevy Bolt has already won a few other honors, including Motor Trend’s Car of the Year back in November and the Green Car of the Year award given to the vehicle at the Los Angeles Auto Show. The Bolt seems to be collecting a heavy collection of awards, though it’s not unwarranted; with a sticker price below $30,000 and an electric range of around 238 miles on a single charge, the Chevy Bolt costs about half the price as the competition, including the Tesla Model S.
Kicking off 2017 with the Car of the Year award from the Detroit Auto Show isn’t anything to turn up your nose at, either. The Chevy Bolt has already started the New Year with a big win, an omen of its success as a highly-anticipated and much-needed member of the electric car segment.
If you love cars and you’re looking for something to do in Huntington Beach, you’re in luck. The auto club HB Hot Rod holds weekly classic car shows every Wednesday for residents in the area, so you can come out on a Wednesday evening to see a variety of vintage vehicles that have been refurbished and treated with love. It’s the same place every week – 16882 Gothard Street – and the event runs from 6:30 until 8:30pm.
HB Hot Rod refers to the event as Cars and Cruisin’, and it’s designed to be a unique experience for guests and members alike. The facility features a shop, kitchenette, and games like darts and cornhole for hanging out and communing with members of the club. HB Hot Rod also invites weekly guests that come to talk about different subjects related to caring for classic cars. Later, the real magic happens – a cruise around Main Street and the surrounding streets to show off the members’ slick rides.
Whether you have a classic car of your own that you wish to show off – in which case, check the club’s guidelines before you go – or you just want to see a bunch of cool cars showing their stuff in Huntington Beach, HB Hot Rod is committed to the upkeep of these vintage cars and bringing together a community of people around them.

In the past three years, Chevrolet has earned four awards from Motor Trend. The latest is the Motor Trend Car of the Year award for the all-new 2017 Chevrolet Bolt EV. The other three awards were for Car of the Year in 2016 for the Camaro and Truck of the Year in 2015, and 2016 for the Colorado.
“Chevrolet is on a roll with new and compelling vehicles that have reset the bar for trucks in 2015, trucks and sports cars in 2016, and for 2017, electric cars,” said Ed Loh, Motor Trend Editor-in-Chief. “The Bolt EV is certainly a game changing vehicle and we look forward to seeing whether we’ll be recognizing another Chevrolet next year in our annual awards.”
The Bolt EV earned this year’s award because it performed exceptionally well in six evaluation categories: engineering excellence, advancement in design, value, efficiency, safety, and performance of intended function.
With the Bolt EV, the electric car segment will get a great, game-changing addition. It will deliver an EPA-estimated 238 miles of range on a full charge. In addition, it will be available across the country and has an affordable starting price of $37,495. Many customers may qualify for a federal tax credit of up to $7,500, making it even more affordable.
The 2017 Chevrolet Bolt EV will be available here at DeLillo Chevrolet by the end of this year.

Like any business, there’s a lot that goes on behind the scenes at a car dealership that you, the customer, generally don’t see. Sometimes that can transition to a long wait but there’s always a good reason for it. Allow us here at DeLillo Chevrolet to give you a behind-the-scenes look at what goes on at a car dealership.
You’ve found a car you like and the salesman walked off a few minutes ago to retrieve your requested car. It seems to be taking an unexpected amount of time. The reason, if you found the car online, could be that the car isn’t on the main lot. While retrieving a car sitting on the lot takes just a minute or two, finding one in an off-site lot could take more than a few minutes. If you requested to drive a car in the showroom, it will take even longer.
Salesmen try to deliver the best experience possible and much of that comes with meeting your every request. If you choose to test drive a specific car, they’ll make it happen but it could take a few minutes more than expected. To help reduce the wait time, call ahead and let them know what model you want to drive. Odds are the salesman will have it ready to go by the time you arrive.
So you’ve made a deal and you’re just waiting on the car, but it seems to be taking forever. The obvious, and more likely reason, is that the service department is preparing the car by cleaning the interior and exterior, tightening bolts, and making sure everything is in working order. Dealerships are dedicated to making sure you have an exceptional experience and it’s that attention to detail that makes it happen.
