Taking care of your car is a year-round job, but summer maintenance is by far the most important, especially for warmer climates. From what’s under the hood to the interior, there’s quite a few steps to getting your car operating at peak performance for the summer months. Here are some helpful summer car maintenance tips from us here at DeLillo Chevrolet.
Take the time to give your tires a good look before taking to the road on any trips. Tires that have low tread won’t have enough traction to ensure you can drive safely on any road conditions. Keep an eye out for any abnormalities like bulges or cuts. Make sure the tires are properly inflated to the manufacturer-suggested pressure as well. It wouldn’t hurt to pick stones and other debris out of the tread either.
Clean cabin air is important to many drivers, even if they don’t think about it. Your cabin air filter likely needs to be changed as summer rolls around, assuming it wasn’t changed in spring. On the bright side, air filters are fairly inexpensive and you can replace them yourself.
An improper level of coolant or old coolant could lead to an overheated engine once summer arrives. Take the time to flush old coolant and replace it. Check the hoses for any holes or wear and tear.
