If you’re planning on taking a trip to the beach soon, you might be wondering about what to take with you, how to pack it up into your car, and of course how to de-sand the car when you get home. Here are some tips on driving to the beach you might find helpful.
If you’re going with kids, you’ll probably want them to sleep on the way home from an exhausting day at the beach, and they’ll want to do the exact opposite of sleep. Bring some favorite soft toys and blankets from home to put them out like a light. It’s a good idea to bring a cooler, so make sure you have one that fits in the trunk or cargo area of your car, or buy a small Styrofoam one, and stock up with water and snacks for the day.
A good way to avoid getting sand into the car is to bring a broom and dust yourself and your kids off before you get into the car. Some will inevitably pop up, though. To get the sand out, take out the mats and beat them to shake out as much sand as possible. Then you’ll want to brush them with an upholstery brush to loosen sand that has gotten too deep in to shake out. Finally, vacuum the mats to get the rest of the sand up. Follow the same steps with the carpet of your car.
